If I’m guessing, you want to live a life where you can see beauty in unexpected ways, give yourself permission to be your fullest self, trust your body, and find play, pleasure, and rest. This is that kind of retreat.

Yoga is the practice of paying attention.

It shows up in every part of our lives. During our time together, we’ll play with what it means to build a mindful life through movement, thought, and connection.

Story

Nestled in the beauty of Southern Portugal, we will practice in a pagoda with floor to ceiling windows looking out at the wild outdoors. Quinta Marugo is a grounded place, the kind of space that holds you.

Between long walks in the country, yoga practice, mat workouts, swimming, and gathering around a fire, we’ll have workshops, meditation, and art creation.

Personally, I have found that I’m really good at going-going-going.

By giving myself the permission to play in the many ways offered during this retreat, I invite myself to break habits that hold me back and create room for growth that is better than I could have even imagined.

It all starts with your own hand on your heart.

FAQs

Q: Is there an age minimum to attend?

A: Yes. You have to be at least 18 years old.

Q: Is this for women, men, and nonbinary people combined?

A: Yes. I’ve hosted a multi-gender retreat in the past and it’s a rich experience to retreat all together.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: You will be sent a packing list when we get closer to time.

Q: Who will I be rooming with?

A: If you want to room with someone in specific, you will be able to share that in the intake form that will be sent out closer to the retreat.

Q: Will the food be allergy-friendly?

A: Yes. There will be an intake form sent out as we get close to time. You will be able to share any preferences and allergies. The food will be vegetarian with an option to make it vegan or gluten free (cannot guarantee no contagion for serious celiac illness).

Q: Is this space wheelchair accessible?

A: No.

Q: Do I have to do everything on the schedule?

A: No. You always have the freedom to choose. And also, sometimes we can be surprised by what we learn when we try new things.

Q: What airport should I fly into?

A: Lisbon, Portugal.

Q: How far away is the retreat location from the airport?

A: People can arrive with their own vehicles, or a direct bus from Lisbon to Serpa through rede expressos, and then a taxi for about 12/14 euros to Quinta Marugo. Or a train from Lisbon (most stations) through CP (Comboios Portugal – National Train Service) and a taxi to Quinta Marugo for about 50 euros. We can organize van transfers from Lisbon airport for 300 euros each way which can be divided among 8 people or €260 among 4 people (this cost might vary depending on the gas prices). There will be an intake form sent out as we get close to time to share if you’re interested in carpooling.

Q: What is your thought on inclusivity?

A: There is no tolerance for hate-speech of any kind at this gathering. All bodies and peoples are invited who understand that others’ right to exist doesn’t diminish their own. I trust that you will take care of yourself, claim ownership over what you need, and show up willing to expand. Enter playfully. Make friends with yourself and others.
